Colorful canal houses, Burano, Venice

Lovely Burano (in Venetian Lagoon) photograph by talented Allison Lince-Bentley. See Painterly Venice. (via World Island Info).

ok, i take part of my comment on venice back. one day we took the vaporetto line that runs out towards murano. if you can successfully free yourself of touristic imagery and guidebook checklists, that ride is so much better than a ride on a gondola (not to mention: cheaper). it takes you through burano. the houses make you smile. the little cafès let you imagine yourself with a vino and journal and fountain pen lazily contemplating and philosophizing. or a fashion or art magazine. dreaming.
